Lifting the Veil of Samhain

Illustrator Prescott Hill http://hillustrate.com

People who honored the cycles of the Earth and Nature were once serious targets of the religious powers of their time. There was so much horrific brutality enacted during that religious take-over that it caste a veil of  fear that still exists in the minds of some today.

Interestingly enough, it was often very simple things that were pushed into the “fear this” category.

Lumped into this collective shadow were ideas and actions such as:
~ working with the cycles of the moon
~ gathering herbs
~ the darkness of night
~ dancing under the full moon
~ cats — especially black ones in the US
~ intuition
~ emotions
~ the Divine Feminine/the Goddess
~ honoring the cycles of nature through the Wheel of the Year (including Samhain also known as Halloween)
~ dancing as a way of connecting to the Divine

This year, in the Northern Hemisphere, a major harvest point of the solar cycle lines up with the harvest full moon of the year. This combination brings you rich abundant energy for your creations from the lunar and solar forces.

One focus of the harvest phase is gratitude. The energy of gratitude provides upliftment and grace which fills your life and any creation you focus on bringing in.

Take a moment and think of what you have to be grateful for from this growing season.

I know personally this growing season has brought me a great crop of potent completions. Each one of them came from staying focused, doing lots of dedicated work, and keeping myself elementally centered and balanced in the midst of huge a huge learning curve and tremendous uncertainty.

As some of you know, but many of you do not, this is my first year really doing a larger out reach with my message. For the last 11 years, I have taught mostly in Atlanta, Ohio, and Washington DC. I’ve spent my time developing the programs we have available through Natural Rhythms.

Soul Tools for Transformative Times Handout

Solstice means “Sun Standstill,” and summer solstice, in the northern hemisphere, brings us the longest day of the year. Find time to bask in the bright abundant light summer brings and enjoy the harvest as things begin to ripen around you. This is a wonderful day to consciously witness the sunrise and appreciate the blessings the solar light and fuel bring into your life.

Also called midsummer, this point creates the fullest point of the summer season. It begins the subtle turn point when the light slowly begins to shift. During this time, honor the abundance of the Earth Mother and the gift of warmth the sun brings forth.

Celebrating May Day & Beltane

Posted by: | Comments (6)

Today, May 1st, is the traditional day that Beltane, also known as May Day is celebrated on. Beltane is the cross-quarter Wheel of the Year point falling between Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice. The exact point falls around May 4 or 5 each year. In the northern hemisphere, Beltane marks the starting point of the turn toward summer.

Depending on where you live the flowers begin their yearly blooming cycle as the Goddess Flora wakes up and spreads her beauty.

This is the time to bask in the abundant beauty of this point of the seasonal cycle and celebrate the pure pleasure of being alive. Enjoy being outside, and give thanks to the union of Earth and the Solar Fire of the Sun, which bring us the growing cycle. Connect to the flowers and their power to uplift your life in this window.

The Wheel of the Year points make a great time to tune into your creations. Beltane marks the time when the energy begins to swell to ripeness so check on your intentions from Winter Solstice. How is their growth progressing? Is there anything they need in order to be more fertile?

Today is the peak of the Wheel of the Year point of Imbolc. This energy stirs the seeds of what has been growing and developing inside you over the longer inner focused days of winter. Pay careful attention to what is moving within today. Take note of anything that surfaces in your awareness that will help you develop and expand your capacity.

Sometimes expanding your capacity means doing deeper inner clearing of old energies that are ready to be released. Other times it may mean actively focusing and targeting your energy and actions in order to reach your destination.

As you tune into this, I would love to hear what kinds of things you feel you need to fully activate your capacity to create, in any or every area of your life. Please comment and I will connect to the messages as I craft ways for Natural Rhythms to assist you in the days, weeks, and months ahead.

Many seed stirring blessings for you today, Lisa

Winter Solstice

Each element possesses a natural rhythm cycle. Every day, every night, every month, and every year dances to a rhythm. The Wheel of the Year connects the sun’s journey to the earth’s cycles. In many cultural views of the Wheel of the Year, the sun was seen as carrying the masculine principle, called “Son” and “God”, while the earth was viewed as the feminine principle, named “Mother Earth” or “Goddess.”

The Earth Goddess has many names, varying across cultures. In many myths, the relationship and connection of the Earth Goddess with the Solar God was honored with the changing cycles. The Earth Mother Goddess stays alive throughout the year, changing from mother, to partner, to sovereign Goddess. The solar, sun, (son) God energy is born from the Goddess, grows to full Godhood, becomes partners with the Goddess, and then dies each year. The Wheel teaches us the natural cycle of death and rebirth, as one year’s cycle gives way to the next.

The seasonal cycle reminds you of your need for balance through every turn of the Wheel of the Year’s quarters: the winter and summer solstice points and spring and autumnal equinoxes. As those four sections divide again, creating the cross-quarter days, each of these eight points of seasonal change are a “power day.” Each is honored and celebrated for the energy they bring to the year.
