Celebrated on February 1 or 2

Imbolc is the cross-quarter Wheel of the Year point following Winter Solstice. Also known as Brighid’s day or Candlemas, it marks the starting point of spring. Here you begin to subtly notice that the days are lengthening and, depending on the area you live in, you may actually start to see signs of spring. Here in Georgia where I live, the daffodils consistently open sometime around Imbolc, although this year they may be later because of a colder winter. When they do start the daffodils begin the steady wave of beautiful bloom that lasts through the glorious spring.

For others in colder climates, Imbolc may simply bring the promise of spring as the light of the sun slowly begins to increase. Tune in this year to the subtle shifts you notice in the air and light around and after Imbolc. What does it signal internally for you? What things do you get a renewed urge to do?

Imbolc is the time to call forth the idea seeds that have been germinating in the inner realm and that are now stirring with life, ready to grow during the upcoming cycle. A great opportunity exists during Imbolc to ceremonially create a “treasure map” or a creation journal, a collage of pictures and ideas that represents what you want to manifest in your life this year, a visual reminder of the creations that are ready to sprout, grow, and bear fruit. Or you may want to engage in some other creative project to make use of Imbolc’s powerful creative urges.

Use Imbolc’s energy of renewal for spring-cleaning of both home and body, to purify from the darker energy of winter. This point on the Wheel represents a potent time for creativity, invoking a muse, or starting a new project or initiation cycle.

Imbolc, means “in the belly” and is associated with ewe’s milk, the lactation that begins for the baby lambs at this time of year. The Celtic Fire Goddess Brighid brings healing, purification, renewal, fertility, and creativity at Imbolc. If she interests you, take a few minutes and Google her to find out more information. She is a wonderful Goddess to work with at this time of year, and she will bring you many gifts and blessings. Candlemas was the name given to Imbolc as the old ways gave way to the Christian tradition. The ceremonial candles for the year were customarily created at Imbolc.

~ Connect with the Goddess Brighid if she interests you and ask her to assist you with inspiration for your creative pursuits.
~ Set aside time for the spring-cleaning of your home/office and releasing what you no longer need.

~ Do traditional crafts for this time of year by creating your intention candles for the year. Infuse your candles with energies for things such as abundance, fertility, inspiration, clear communication, etc.

The Full Moon in Cancer shines a spotlight on areas in your life that need nurturing, tender loving care, and emotional tending. As you begin the New Year by structuring your goals, crafting the year ahead, and handling the administrative duties that the Capricorn sun brings, the Cancer moon reminds you to loving nurture all that is growing in your life.

As the only element in which you can see your reflection, Water functions as a mirror. It reveals what needs tending in your emotional world. The darker days of winter can give you time to go inside yourself and tend to your emotions. Is there buried grief that needs release, joy that needs room to dance and move, or soul expression that needs time to create? The solstices and equinoxes mark the extreme light, dark, and balanced points of the cycle of the sun. In the Northern Hemisphere we have the shortest day and longest night on winter solstice, and then the days slowly begin to lengthen again. This is important to you for several reasons:

1) After winter solstice the subtle growing light starts a fresh growing cycle for a new year. The more you align your creations with this growing cycle the more it boosts your ability to bring your personal and professional creations into form. You are aligning your creations with the increasing sunlight. Think about what that does for plants. It is the sun that springs the plants and seeds to life and it will do the same for your creations.

2) The days leading up to winter solstice are the darkest of the year and the darker days urge you to sleep and dream more. This is an important time to tune into the guiding messages you hear for your life. Pay attention to your dreams, and spend some time in reflection and journaling about what you want to grow in the year ahead.

3) Concentrating on reflection and creation between now and the first few weeks of January will make a big difference in your year. That is one of the reasons people make new year’s resolutions. A more effective thing is mapping out your creation plan. More About Winter Solstice and the Capricorn Sun

Winter Solstice means “Sun Standstill.” Solstice marks one of the most important points on the Wheel of the Year, functioning as a seed point for the solar cycle, just as a new moon does for the lunar cycle. Its impact functions in your life for a full year, a complete growing cycle.

During this darkest phase of the year, you are called to reflect on the past year, giving gratitude for all your blessings, and to dream and create the next stage of development for your desires and goals. How you begin this cycle influences the entire upcoming year.

Capricorn energy brings the need for solid, stable plans and structures. Its purpose is for you to design and create a solid plan for the upcoming growing cycle in every area of your life. During the next few weeks you need to be sure you create your foundation for the year ahead. It is important to dream your new growing cycle into being as a blueprint for what you choose to create.

This blueprint represents which life aspects you choose to place your intention and focus on during this growing cycle. As you create your blueprint, you don’t have to know how each item will come into being, you need only to connect to the blueprint, energize it, allow the elemental forces to inform you around it, and be in alignment with the rhythmic cycle.

The more your blueprint aligns both with you personally and with caring for the Earth, the more effective it becomes. Intentions aligned with caring for the Earth are in harmony with the natural world and therefore have more support from nature. REMEMBER, only apply energy to what you want to grow. How you phrase your dreams, desires, and goals is very IMPORTANT. When you state what you “do not want” you bring that into being because that is where the energy is flowing. You want to clearly state what you choose to bring in, and to determine the action steps that you will need to make. Then, release attachment to the outcome.  That way Spirit, as it flows into our world of form, creating with the elemental forces, can work on your behalf.

As you align your dreams and desires with the unified field of all the elements (Earth, Water, Air, Fire, with Spirit flowing through all) sometimes an element needs to be strengthened, or an aspect of your mental beliefs or your old emotional program needs to be cleared. Just like growing a garden in your yard, sometimes rocks and roots need to be removed or fertilizer, water, or more sun need to be added so that your flowers and veggies may thrive.

Would you proceed by allowing the framers, electricians, and plumbers do what ever they wanted?

With no plan in mind at the outset there would likely be no coherent usability for the building, even if the entire crew were skilled at their individual jobs. Without a blueprint for the project there is no direction for the construction crew, there is nothing that lets them know how and where to apply their energy.

That same principle holds true no matter what you are creating in your life, be it your career, a new home, or your business. It is the plan, blueprint, or design of anything you are building that actually directs the forces of creation. Your creation begins moving into form when you take your unformed, invisible ideas and create the blueprint or framework of what you are manifesting.

Even with a plan you can still be flexible for changes that may come up along the way when you discover something new or simply feels it needs adjustment for where you are at the time. You may shift or change your plan at anytime. A plan doesn’t create rigidness, it creates structure. It gives shape to your creation. When you know how to work with the critical dynamic interchange between the formless mental realm of Air, and the formed physical realm of Earth, you are better able to effectively create anything. The mental realm of Air actually directs the forces of creation.

Now, there is a subtle difference between forcing and directing a creation. Forcing means you overly impose your will on the creation and directing means you help effectively shape it. An example of this would be forcing the land to suit your building, instead of shaping the building to suit the land.

When you effectively direct your creations, you pay attention to the landscape that is already present (who you are, what your skilled at, what’s next in the expansion of your life or business). From there, you shape your formless ideas, desires, and dreams into form in a way that aligns with who you are and what is important to you and your business from a soul level.

Here’s how to design, energize, and activate a clear blueprint your best year ever:

1. Connect to your unique essence desires. Creating your best year ever starts with knowing what it is you actually want to bring into your life. Anytime you passionately connect to your true heart centered desires without feeling like you have to follow the crowd, then give yourself full permission to receive your dreams, the easier it becomes to actually call them forth.

2. Develop a dynamic design. Once you know what it is you want to bring forth then you need a clear strategic blueprint. You don’t need to fill in all the details but once you start putting your design on paper you gain insights into how things can happen and they start to unfold. Allow your plan to be dynamic to change and evolve over time. This gives you full permission to adjust as you go along, but the energy of the plan immediately begins to draw your desires to you.

3. Consciously activate your plan. Just as a seed in the ground needs the warming fire of the sun to spring to life your plan needs activating. You need to consciously turn up your inner fire with the intention to activate your dreams. Dancing with the intention to activate is the most potent and effective way to do this.

4. Align each elemental realm of creation for success. Having a vision for your year and developing a blueprint from that vision engages the mental realm and the element of Air. When you ground your desires with a plan in writing you use the earthly physical realm. By allowing yourself to feel the joy of your dreams being fulfilled you open for the support of the watery emotional realm. 5. Hold steadfast even when your dreams haven’t emerged yet. This maybe the most challenging component of the creation process. If you wavier in your feelings, focus, or energy while your dreams and desires are growing you dilute and can sometimes even sabotage your efforts. Just as you must know seeds develop underground out of sight before bearing fruit you need to remember the same thing is true for your creations. They happen first in the invisible before they come into the visible, not the other way around.

6. Use the power of rhythm to consistently energize your plan. In the same way you need to eat regularly to stay energized or a plant needs to be fertilized to produce fruit your creations need to be energized. The best way to add energy is to use the start of the lunar growing cycle each month by connecting to the new moon. 7. Measure your results and adjust. The more your desires are measurable each year the easier it will be to know how you are doing with aligning your creation energy. It’s easy to measure financial amounts, or to know if you have a relationship, a child, or a new place to live. So take look at what you are choosing to create and determine how you can measure it. If you have something on your list harder to measure such as life balance put some measurements in place around it. How will you know when you have balance, do you take a certain number of days off each week, month, or year?
